The Seibels Law Firm PA was one of the first South Carolina firms to recognize the significance of the state’s captive insurance enabling legislation. We have been engaged actively in the state’s captive insurance industry since the firm was founded in January, 2001. The firm serves as general counsel to risk purchasing groups, risk retention groups and traditional captives.
A captive is a limited purpose insurance company formed according to South Carolina law to finance the risks of the captive’s parent company or parent groups. A well capitalized and conservatively managed captive can insure warranties, property damage, public and products liability, professional liability, employer liability, automobile or trucking liability and certain benefits. Because a captive has access to the global reinsurance market, these risks can be controlled though the prudent use of reinsurance.
The firm provides all necessary legal services to captives from pre-incorporation planning to ongoing corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
